During the last three decades, the Duke Vaccine and Trials Unit (DVTU) has conducted over 125 clinical trials evaluating vaccines directed towards the prevention of a variety of infectious diseases.
Our group has tested vaccines both prior to and following approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Among the currently approved vaccines we have studied are:
- Vaccines to prevent infant diarrhea caused by rotavirus
- A vaccine to prevent cervical cancer caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV)
- Vaccines to prevent COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus
