JOURNAL CLUB:

• Each trainee will present a research article once per year and a faculty reader will be selected based on the paper for discussion
• Invited faculty seminars on specific topics
• Thesis dissertation practice for PhD students
• Practice session to present talks at national and international meetings
• Practice session for job talks (postdoctoral associates)

MONTHLY DTMP MEETING:

• Focus on trainee success at DHVI
• Review of good research practice and ethics
• Career development including transition to faculty or alternative careers
• Developing a social and collaborative environment
• Peer mentoring
• Informal discussions

TAKING SCIENCE TO THE STREETS (TSTTS):

• Discussing science behind the policies for managing infectious diseases
• Learning to effectively communicate science to the general public
• Debunking science from myths
• Invited guests from academia, industry, government agencies and community to discuss different topics
• Oxford-style debates

ANNUAL FALL TRAINEE RETREAT

• Trainees will submit abstracts for poster and oral presentations
• Every trainee will be asked to submit and abstract and a poster at the retreat
