Advancing Women In Science Mentoring Event

Durham, NC -- On Thursday, Duke faculty, staff and students attended the Advancing Women In Science Mentoring Event with guest speaker Dr. Carolyn Coyne. Dr. Coyne is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis. Her work is multidisciplinary and encompasses cell biology, tissue engineering, immunology, and microbiology. For two hours, Dr. Coyne shared personal stories and experiences while engaging in thoughtful discussions with graduate and postdoctoral trainees about diversity and inclusion in STEM.

Assistant Dean Johnna Frierson, PhD, Director of the Duke IDEALS Office, also spoke at the event.
