Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) is pleased to announce that Daniel Wrapp, PhD, has been promoted to the faculty position of assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Duke, effective June 1, 2024.

Wrapp arrived at DHVI in 2021 as a postdoctoral associate in the lab of Dr. Barton Haynes, where his research focused on structural biology, B cell isolation, and designing HIV Envelopes capable of interacting with bnAb precursors. Throughout his years at DHVI, he has received numerous honors and awards, including Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researcher in 2022 and 2023 and the CHAVD Postdoctoral Award. “Daniel brings expertise to DHVI in the study of both HIV vaccine design and in the biology of other viruses, including herpesviruses and HTLV-1. We are delighted to have Daniel join the faculty,” said Barton Haynes, MD.

"I’m very excited to have the opportunity to continue studying viral pathogens alongside the outstanding faculty here at DHVI. To be able to engage with such a vibrant and welcoming intellectual community is a real privilege," said Wrapp.

Wrapp received his Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and completed his PhD in biochemistry and cell biology at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, in the lab of Jason McLellan, PhD.
