I use structural, biophysical and immunological techniques to learn more about how the immune system generates broadly neutralizing antibodies against the conserved "V3 glycan" epitope of the HIV-1 Envelope. Our hope is that by learning more about how these antibodies mature over the course of natural infection we can design immunogens that are capable of stimulating their development in response to vaccination.
